ELECTIVES (signup at registration)

  • 1) Biblical Foundations of Music Ministry (Tim Thorburn)*

Worship songs and church go together so naturally that it is hard to imagine church without songs. But what comes naturally is not necessarily Christian—the gospel of Jesus turns many normal things upside down. So it is essential to see what God’s word says about worship, singing and church. This workshop is about building Biblical foundations for our music ministry. It is aimed at Pastors, Music Directors and others keen to delve into the issues.

*This is a core elective that we run at each conference, so consider whether you may have already done this elective at a previous conference.
  • 2) Leading the Singing (Trevor Hodge)

    for singers and musicians

Good leading can be the difference between a congregation singing with conviction or on auto-pilot. This workshop will help you consider the privilege, joy and responsibility of leading our congregations in song. It is aimed at song leaders (singers) and musicians.

  • 3) Song writing workshop (Liz Gordon)

    Limited places

A well written song gives God’s people a way to “teach and admonish one another will all wisdom” (Col 3:16) and also allows a deep and grateful corporate response to his word. But what makes a congregational song effective? During this elective we will look briefly at some core concepts, before workshopping a number of songs that attendees have written. (You can let us know at registration if you have a song you are willing to share). It is aimed at people with an interest in song/lyric writing, but you don’t have to present a song to be able to attend.

Who are we?

Exalt aims to equip pastors, leaders, musicians, singers, and sound technicians to make music that builds our churches and exalts our great God and glorious Saviour.
